Benefits Of Adding Roving Security To Your Commercial Property

Security is essential in many situations, and the more layers of protection you have, the more secure your property is in most cases. Commercial properties often need security in many different places, and covering the entire property with cameras or a couple of security officers may not be enough. Adding a roving securing patrol to the property can have significant benefits that can pay off over time.

Roving Security

A security patrol that moves around your commercial property in a vehicle or on foot can offer some benefits that static control points do not have. As the security officer patrols the property they can alter their patrol route and randomly move through areas that are hard to monitor.

The advantage of these random patrol patterns makes it much harder for anyone to track the movements of the security patrol, and gaining access to the property becomes more difficult for anyone that is not supposed to be there.

While security cameras play an important role in monitoring critical areas of the property, it can be challenging to set up camera systems that cover the entire property and are not noticeable by potential intruders. A security patrol can cover the areas that the cameras can't and can be there at random times throughout the day or night.

Fire Watch

Another function of a roving security patrol is fire watch on your property. While a camera system may detect a fire, someone will need to be dispatched to the scene once it is noticed. Your security patrol is already moving around the property, so watching for fire or smoke should be a part of the job function.

If the roving officer sees a fire breaking out, they can call it in quickly, and if it is small enough, use a fire extinguisher to put it out or keep it under control until responders arrive to deal with it. Fires can start in nearly any environment, and the security patrol may see it sooner than anyone else on the property.

Interacting With Employees

Commercial facilities or properties that have continuous operations often have employees in the building at all hours of the day. The interaction between a security patrol and your employees can be helpful, and make employees more comfortable because the security officer is around and watching over the property.

Your roving security patrol can be tasked with watching over parking areas as employees leave at night, directing traffic out of the parking areas, or doing escorts from the building to parking areas for employees concerned about walking out late at night by themselves.

The flexibility of a mobile or roving security patrol can add many benefits to your property and in most cases, if you are using a security service, the additional cost can be worth it for your property or facility.
